Originally, I thought my site would be a personal one, where I could express my creativity to the Internet community. But I have now decided that it could be more informative and have better use, so I have posted some information about Brunei, my home.
Since it is Visit Brunei Year, I feel that it would be good opportunity to promote my country, and give people a better idea of where I�m from, my cultural background and my religious beliefs as I find it hard to explain. I�m aiming my Web site for two different audiences, my friends and potential travellers to the Asian region who are interested in Brunei, in one word, tourists.
At the moment, my site has just minimal information and a few links about Brunei, mostly tourist information but I plan to integrate some more information by posting some local legends, provide information about places of interests and give more information about the religious and local culture. I am going to try to add pictures to give people a better idea of Brunei and add some contact information for the local authorities and places to stay. It is not as comprehensive as I would like it to be, but in due time research and development will rectify this problem.
For the web enthusiasts, I hope to put up some downloads, such as ICQ Skins, and perhaps later on a Desktop theme. Perhaps this will attract some Bruneian interest, and perhaps as I get the attention of artists and photographers they can expand this section!
The structure of my website is simple, with a navigation bar on every page, for easy accessible surfing. I plan on using some other methods to make the site more interesting yet, keeping to the simple format, such as a navigation menu, which would probably take up less space than a navigation bar. Instead of using a frames format, I have used the background of the page to create the illusion of frames, and by using tables, I have made this possible.
I hope to use Javascript to improve the quality of surfing, and excite visitors to the site. As I said before, I'm keeping to a simple look but with the professionalism and feel of well constructed and easy to navigate web page. I have kept to a consistent format and hopefully this will work when I have the different images on the page.
Hopefully, I can also get local (meaning Bruneian) interest on my page and get sponsorship from businesses in Brunei to develop it into a more comprehensive and informative site.
